Night Nurse


 

 

This was the final practical assignment for my Masters course in film and TV production. I wrote, produced and directed this film. It is a short situational comedy set over the course of one night in an A&E waiting room. It follows a senior nurse named Angie who has a crush on one of her colleagues and tries to summon the courage to ask him on a date. There is a mismatched collection of patients who interact in comedic ways.

The Gauntlet


 

 

Here is the short film I made for my 3rd year practical project at the University of Hertfordshire. It is a Mock-u-Mentery style piece about a covert goovernment agency. It takes the guise of a recruitment video targeted at fresh inductees into this secret training base. Much like a corporate promo it features some of the 'tutors and trainers' that will guide the watching recruit through their upcoming tutition in espionage.
 
I wrote, directed, produced and edited this piece.

An Insight Into Schizophrenia


 

 

This is a 30 minute documentary that I Directed, Produced, Co-filmed and Edited. It takes a look into the lives of those who suffer from schizophrenia, including interviews with four people inflicted with the condition.
 
We also get the views and opinions of a psychiatric consultant and three of his staff.
 

 

 

 

A Dancers Persepctive


 

 

This is a 15 minute documentary exploring the life and work of a lap dancer in Newquay, Cornwall.
 
We see her daily life and watch her work at 'Divas Nightclub', she gives interveiws discussing the dual-personality of a lap dancer.
 
I camera operated, lit and sound-recorded this film.
 

 

 

 

The Evolution of the God Man


 

 

This is a video essay created as part of my MA, it explores some of those throughout history who have  been classified as both human and divine. It also looks at examples of God Men throughout film - both good and evil, and how such figures can influence and inspire humanity.

How Brexit may affect the UK Film Industry


 

 

This is a video essay created as part of my MA, it explores the potential changes in store for the UK Film and TV Industries, following our immanent exit from the EU. With professional testimonies we look at how work-forces and finances may be affected, and whether those changes will benefit or hinder British production.

Alexandria


 

 

Here is a short film written and directed by my colleague James Bateman - on which I was the primary sound recordist and secondary camera operator. It is a sci-fi short set on a space station that exists to serve as a futuristic lighthouse, to warn passing vessels of the nearby black hole.
 
It is also a comedy.
 

 

 

 

Unpaid Debt


 

 

This is a 10 minute short invloving a fued between two London gangsters, one of whom has his son kidnapped and tortured by the opposing gang.
 
I make a cameo appearance in this film as a henchman and also did some camera operating.

The Lamb To The Slaughter


 

 

A 15 minute film following the series of events that lead a 1950's hopusewife to murder her husband, before cutting up the corpse and cooking it into a stew that she then feeds to his colleague.
 
Again I make an appearance - this time as the policeman's colleague.
 
I co-built and dressed the sets, co-lit the sets, and was one of three camera operators. I did some sound mixing and co-edited the finished piece. I also added the music from a royalty-free library.

Hocus Pocus


 

 

A 15 minute documentary following an events and entertainment company as they host magicians, stilt walkers, pupeteers, face painters, jugglers at DJ's at several different events, including : The Aylesbusy Christmas lights celebration and the Oxford Street Christmas celebration. 
 
There are also interviews with the managment team of the compnay.
 
I filmed this short, as well as sound recorded and co-edited.

The Guitarist


 

 

A short fiction film following the life of a teenage boy who is emotionally abused by his step-father as he tries to learn to play the guitar.
 
The piece builds into an erruption that unites all of the other family members against the tyrant.
 
My main role on this film was sound recordist, though I did some camera operating.

Lost and Found


 

 

A several minute long short following a teddy bear as he is discarded and left to his fate. Finally being saved and welcomed by his new owner into a family of other toys.
 
Again I was the sound recordist and did a little camera work as well as the post-production music.

Revolver


 

 

A non-dialogue piece a few minutes long seen from the perspective of a murder victim as she is found by forensics.
 
I colour coded and edited this piece.
